Direct outs for a Neve

Many vintage consoles have a great sound but are missing direct outs — these are a necessity for DAW/interface work. This was the case with a Neve 5432 I bought a few years back, it has main, aux and monitoring outs, but no direct outs. This is because it was designed for OB radio and TV work. Not only was it a simple matter to connect the Tardigrade to the channels, the board is so compact that I was able to fit it to the back panel without any additional drilling/punching, a reworked DB25 backplane panel did the job. The results are great, the console now sends 8 channels of audio over a DB25 cable into an interface and the audio quality is excellent.Richard Duckworth (Mon Jul 08 2024, 22:56 pm )
